IGN reports that

“Electronic Arts has developed an adaptive difficulty system that dynamically adjusts how difficult a game is. But, as also revealed by EA’s patent application, the system does this with an aim to keep players active for longer periods of time.”

Makes you wonder about what Tommy Tallarico called “some shit we made up,” his so-called Karma Engine, which was supposed to employ user profiles to adjust difficulty for players. They also filed a patent application, which included lots of other bananas ideas which will never be implemented.

Who do you trust more, EA, who has been voted the most hated company in America several years in a row, or Intellivision Entertainment, who thus far has shipped nothing but t-shirts and is run by an internet troll?
